Kurt William Hatcher May 14, 1978 – May 27, 2025 Kurt William Hatcher, of Farmington Hills, passed away on May 27, 2025, at the age of 47. Born on Mother’s Day, May 14, 1978, in Superior Township, Kurt brought light and love into the lives of those around him from the very beginning. Kurt had a deep connection to water—swimming, diving, or simply being near it brought him peace. He held treasured memories from the family cottage on Lake Huron and time spent in Port Sanilac. He was a certified scuba diver and earned a commercial diving certificate, achievements that reflected his adventurous spirit and deep curiosity. While he was very close with both of his parents, Kurt shared a special bond with his father, Douglas. The two spent countless hours together over the years, enjoying each other’s company and creating memories that Kurt held especially dear. Their relationship was one of warmth, understanding, and deep mutual respect. A creative and thoughtful soul, Kurt loved photography, music, and singing. He was an avid movie buff who found joy and escape at the theater and loved to share his enthusiasm for film with others. Fascinated by the mysteries of the universe, he was especially intrigued by UFOs and the unknown. In high school, Kurt played trombone in the marching band and was proud to travel to France for the 50th anniversary of D-Day, where he performed on the beaches of Normandy and at Notre Dame Cathedral—an experience he carried with pride throughout his life. Kurt had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, and spent time volunteering at the Humane Society. He adored his family’s dogs, Chloe and Channel, who brought him great comfort. Even during difficult times, Kurt was known for his resilience, kindness, and sincerity. He was incredibly thoughtful—remembering birthdays and special occasions with handwritten cards—and deeply cared about those around him. He was loving, sweet, and always tried to be present for family gatherings. He is survived by his loving parents, Douglas and Susan; his sister Erika; his cherished niece Eviana; his daughter Jillian; his aunt, uncles, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Kurt’s life was marked by quiet strength, compassion, and a deep love for his family. He will be remembered for the gentle and caring way he moved through the world. A service will be held on June 28, 2025 11:00am at Meadowbrook Congregational Church In honor of Kurt’s memory, donations may be made to a mental health organization such as the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
