James "Jim" Skrycki

James “Jim” Skrycki, age 77, of Howell, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 31, 2025. Jim was the beloved husband of Ronnell “Ronnie” Skrycki for 35 years, a loving father to Jeff (Wendi) Mansfield, and an adoring grandfather to Chase, Anthony, and Vincent Mansfield and Lexie and Jake Daniels and great-grandfather to Wade and William, to whom he was known as "Papa Jim". Dear brother of John Skrycki and Carol Guthard. Brother-in law to Leslie (Frank) Perry and Laurie (Darrell) Piper. Jim leaves many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his cherished K-9 companions, Mattie and Gracie. Jim was born January 13, 1948, in Wyandotte, MI to the late Ellen Louise (Overholt) and John Skrycki. Jim was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, having served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. His commitment to service, both in the military and to his family, remained a core part of who he was throughout his life. In his professional career, Jim worked at American Plastic Toys for 40 years, dedicating himself to the role of Product Control Manager. His work ethic and integrity earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Jim was an avid golfer, with a hole-in-one to his name that he proudly claimed as one of his greatest achievements. When he wasn't on the course, or in the Pro Shop, Jim could be found enjoying his pontoon boat or remodeling his cottage. Jim was a proud graduate of Wayne State University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business. He applied his knowledge and leadership to every facet of his life, both professionally and personally, always with a sense of humor and a genuine care for others. Jim will be remembered for his love of family, his warmth, his sense of adventure, and his deep sense of duty. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, loyalty, and dedication. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 10:00 am until the funeral service at 11:30 am at O’Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, located at 41555 Grand River Ave, Novi, MI 48475. Jim will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia. The family requests donations be made in Jim’s honor to a charity of your choice. Jim’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and his legacy will never be forgotten.
