Elaine P. Kluska

On December 13, 2024, Elaine Patricia Kluska passed on to her eternal rest. Elaine was a kind and gentle soul. She was born September 16, 1946 to Betty and Earl Jakel and grew up in Dearborn along with her younger brothers Don and Alan. They were a happy, hard-working, and close-knit family who enjoyed their annual camping vacations up north. Elaine pitched in to help with family obligations and caring for her ailing grandfather. She was an excellent student and also a cheerleader at Edsel Ford High School and Henry Ford College. She was great at math, transferred to Western Michigan University and upon graduation taught algebra at Thompson Junior High in Southfield. Elaine later earned a Master's Degree from the University of Michigan. Elaine met her husband Ken Kluska while working summers in food service at Greenfield Village. They were married in 1971, had three daughters Kristen (Kevin) Heintz, Jena (Matt) Metropulos, and Carrie (P. Alex) Shaurette, and then became the proud grandparents of five wonderful grandchildren - Haley, Drew, and Jack Heintz, and Max and Audrey Metropulos. An avid tennis player with great shot placement, Elaine played regularly on travel teams for many years at the Livonia Family YMCA, in addition to often beating her family in friendly competitions. She was an excellent doubles partner who always displayed great sportsmanship. Managing a household of athletes, Elaine kept everyone organized and juggled several schedules while managing the home and ensuring lifelong memories for all. Elaine’s love for her family knew no bounds. The grandkids always loved going to Grandma’s house for the bottomless pretzel rods and white chocolate chip pancakes. Elaine was always getting on the floor with them to play legos, trains, dominoes and reading books. One passion in Elaine’s life was the Michigan Wolverines football team. She always ran an excellent tailgate and attended six Rose Bowls. She lived to see her beloved team crowned undisputed National Champions in 2023. Elaine was a super organizer of the annual family vacations including thirteen years at Camp Michigania on Lake Walloon, numerous visits to Disney World, and several lakeside cottage homes with the entire family. Elaine’s lasting legacy is the way she cared for others. Those who mistook her simplicity never understood her complexity of kindness. She was the bedrock of her family and her smile would light up the room. Even during her final months, her main concern was always the comfort of those around her. It was just her way, and everyone that knew her knew of her selflessness. She will be sorely missed, dearly loved, and never forgotten. Visitation Sunday, December 22, 2024 at the O’Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home 41555 Grand River Novi from 2-8pm. Instate at the Northville United Methodist Church, 777 W 8 Mile Northville, Monday, December 23, 2024 from 10:00am until the funeral service at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Angela Hospice or the American Diabetes Association.
