Woodie R. Thomas

Introduction: On January 3, 2021, the world lost an amazing man in Woodie Reed Thomas. Born September 3, 1940 in Alabama to Isaac and Mary Thomas, he was a well-respected father, husband, community member and successful businessman. His life touched many people and his legacy will live on forever. Let us take a moment to remember the life of Woodie Reed Thomas and celebrate his many accomplishments. Education Woodie received his education from Roosevelt High School in Dearborn Township, Michigan. After high school he attended Cal State University and finally received his graduate degree in social work from Eastern Michigan University. Family Man Woodie was a devoted father to three sons Mark Travis Lamont and loving husband to Jeanette Thomas. He was also an active member and Deacon at Community Fellowship Seventh-day Adventist Church where he led by example with strong Christian values. Successful Businessman Woodie retired as a Federal Parole officer for the Eastern District of Michigan and successfully ran his own janitorial business for over 25 years. He was highly respected in the business community for his hard work and dedication to excellence. Charitable Giving Woodie was generous with his time, talent and treasure donating to many causes including a student fund for Peterson Warren Academy in Inkster, Michigan. He also volunteered as a 24 hour liaison of the Emergency Red Cross military family support system during Operation Desert Storm providing moral support to all those affected by war overseas. His charitable giving changed many lives. Conclusion: Woodie Reed Thomas was truly an amazing man who made an indelible impact on all those around him throughout his 82 years here with us. We are thankful for all that he did and we honor him today with celebrating his life's many accomplishments and remembering how he positively affected us all! He is survived by his loving children Mark (Sylvia), Travis and Lamont. his grandchildren Kevin, Bree, Marcus and Eva, as well as his brother Isaac and sister Mary. Woodie was predeceased by his beloved wife Jeanette, his parents Isaac and Mary and brother William. A homegoing service for Woodie will be held at O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home on Sunday January 15 with the service beginning at 10:15am with visitation until 12pm
