Marjorie W. (Randall) McLaughlin, beloved mother of Theresa Mary Wainwright, grandmother of Gregory Wainwright and Justin Wainwright, mother-in-law to Jeffrey Wainwright, sister of nine, and friend of many, passed away peacefully on Sept. 11, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on November 24, 1935, in Detroit Michigan. Her large Catholic family included her mother and father Leo Grant Randall Sr. and Hazel Elenora Randall, her late brothers and sisters; Edward Germain, Dorothy Banasak, Leo Grant Randall Jr. (Henry Randall, Donald Randall, and, Darlene Wilson. She was survived by brothers and sister Richard (Dick) Randall, Robert Brown, Deloris (Sue) Stuart Majorie maintained her Catholic faith in her younger years at St. Paschal’s in Taylor and most recently living within walking distance to Holy Family Parish in Novi. Majorie, better known as Marge, grew up in west Detroit and attended Cody High School. She was married at a younger age to Robert McCloskey, who passed away at a very young age. She later married James (Jim) F. McLaughlin, together raising their daughter Theresa (McCloskey) Wainwright. Jim was an executive in the beverage industry for most of his work life. They were married for 37 years. The majority of her adult life was spent in Taylor, Michigan, where her daughter attended high school and later Detroit Business College studying finance and banking. Marge had a passion for people, loved making new friends, and seemingly set records for maintaining close telephone contact with all her friends. She had a passion for Travel Trailer Camping (but not roughing it) with their various Camping Clubs and organizations. She and Jim were fortunate to be able to experience extensive camping travels, furthering her span of friends and contacts, as well as seeing a vast majority of the United States. She was an avid reader of books, loved playing cards, all types of games, and spending time with family and lifelong friends. Marge and Jim truly loved throwing a party. You name the occasion and they would plan and execute every detail to perfection. As grandchildren arrived on the scene, she and Jim added a new passion of being involved in all aspects of the grandkid’s lives, to the extent possible. They loved being the family helper when Theresa’s husband Jeff Wainwright’s career demanded extensive travel or corporate involvement. Together they early-on introduced the grandchildren to the world of camping, of which the kids loved when they were pre-teens. They maintained a strong involvement with the grandkids, attending many of their local sporting events and martial art recognitions, as well as their high school and college graduations. Marge truly loved good food, as long as she didn’t have to prepare it. There are very few high-end restaurants in Michigan that she and Jim had not visited. Favorites most talked about include the Chambertain in Dearborn and the Golden Mushroom in Southfield both since closed. It seemed their favorite was the Rattlesnake Club in Detroit, near the old Stroh’s complex. They considered those classics. About three years ago, Marge relocated to a senior center in Novi named Meadowbrook Commons. A wonderful facility managed and owned by the city of Novi. She truly enjoyed the wonderful people living there, adding a new and exciting venture during her real golden years. She also had a love for music from the 50s and the 60s, and seemed to somehow know the dance steps to every song from that era. In the last two years, she loved dancing at the summer concerts in Novi, close to her new residence at Novi’s Meadowbrook senior facility. Her final concert was three weeks, and yes - - - that was her last dance. She was hospitalized one day later for a two-week period, and subsequently was moved to her daughter’s home as she entered Hospice care Marge’s Celebration of Life will be a 30-minute grave side service at Great Lake National cemetery on Thursday, September 25th, from 2:30pm to 3:00pm. Marge’s cremains will therein be interred alongside her husband. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, of which she was a long term contributor.
