Gloria Mae Branchick

Gloria Mae Branchick (Ellis), born on December 21, 1946, brought an abundance of love, laughter, and light into the lives of those she touched. On November 9, 2023, surrounded by her children and grandchildren, she peacefully passed away, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love. Gloria's journey through life was marked by deep connections, unwavering devotion to her Catholic faith, children, family, and an unbreakable spirit. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael Branchick Jr., her sisters Blanche P. Farrar (Ellis) and Yvonne C. Ellis, her brother Joseph A. Ellis, and her parents, Jacob and Emma (Assaf) Ellis. She is survived by her loving children: Angela Viola (Francesco), Michael Branchick (Holly), and Christa Reid (Brian), as well as her precious grandchildren: Gianna and Luca Viola, Marianna and Camila Reid (and grandson to come), and William Branchick. Gloria’s family held the central place in her heart, and she took immeasurable pride and joy in witnessing the growth and happiness of her children and grandchildren. Gloria’s impact reached far beyond her family. She dedicated her career to educating young minds as an elementary school teacher at Harmon Elementary in St. Clair Shores. Her passion for teaching was unmistakable, and her students adored her. She instilled not only knowledge but also a sense of kindness and curiosity in those she taught. Her dedication to education earned her the love and admiration of both her students and colleagues. Among those colleagues, Gloria formed lifelong bonds that transcended the classroom. In recent years, she eagerly anticipated her weekly breakfast gatherings with her cherished friends, where laughter and camaraderie reigned. These friendships were a testament to her warm and welcoming nature. Gloria's interests and passions were as diverse as the friendships she cherished. She sought solace in the harmonious act of singing and the enchanting escape offered by reading. Nature held a special place in her heart, from enjoying her and Michael’s beautiful garden to spending tranquil moments by the water, watching boats glide by. Gloria's boundless kindness radiated in her deep connection to her Lebanese heritage, where her warm embrace of hospitality shone brightly, especially when welcoming guests into her home. Yet, one of her most cherished joys was found in the notes and melodies of concerts she attended with her late husband, Michael. Their shared love for music was a source of endless happiness and cherished memories throughout their 49-year marriage. In all aspects of her life, Gloria exemplified love, grace, and generosity. Her enduring legacy of compassion and the warmth of her smile will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Gloria's love will forever radiate in the hearts of those she touched, and her memory will be a cherished treasure for generations to come. As we bid farewell to Gloria, we remember her as a loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, and her memory will forever be an inspiration of love and light in our lives.
