Robin Diane Cameron

Robin Diane Cameron was born on March 2, 1954, to parents Robert and Ginny Bebee. She passed away peacefully on July 13, 2024 with her devoted husband, Greg Cameron, by her side. The witness of their steadfast commitment to one another during forty-nine years of marriage - in good and hard times; sickness and health - will remain an inspiring example in the memory of family, friends and all who encountered them together. Robin and Greg centered their life around their family home in Novi where they resided for nearly 40 years with a truly open-door policy. Over the course of their marriage, the Cameron home was often central to gatherings of their beloved community and a regular stop for neighbors, friends and family – labels which were often indistinguishable to Robin. What made the gatherings special both at her home, and in earlier years at their cabin in Kalkaska, was Robin’s ability to gracefully, artistically and maternally pull people together. She seized any opportunity to gather with her siblings Susan and David Major, Ruth Brown and her late husband John Brown, and Bill and Paula Denton – and regularly visited her parents, Robert and Helen in South Carolina, both of whom will greet her in heaven. She also deeply cherished and loved all of Greg’s siblings: Cathy and Joe Willing, Debbie Daquano and her companion Dan Atchison, Joe Daquano, Colleen Brown and before their passing, Carolyn and Ken Gray. Robin’s love extended not just to the dozens of nieces and nephews tied to these siblings, but even to the children of her nieces and nephews. She was always eager to help plan weddings, put together center pieces, and she had a knack for seeing what needed to be done and then seeing to it. Robin was a regular parishioner at Our Lady of Victory in Northville, and spent many years of her life as a nurse tending to patients at Sunrise Facilities in the Farmington area. Robin had her hand in many things yet always being a mother and caretaker was central to her sense of vocation – even when she was the one who needed care. Robin and Greg’s “open door” policy expanded into an “open road” policy as their grown children moved across country and resided in four different states. There was a willingness and an eagerness to follow the lives of her children and grandchildren, despite the sacrifices of travel, especially as Robin’s health declined. Despite the thousands of miles of travel required and other remarkable sacrifices, Robin and Greg still intimately experienced the lives of their children and grandchildren. Robin’s oldest son Joel, along with his girlfriend Ashley Treutle provided care and comfort locally for Robin. Robin, together with Greg, attended swim meets for her oldest grandchild, Tyler and many dance recitals for granddaughters Ashley and Melanie. Robin also regularly visited Joel’s home in South Lyon where she cherished time Elena Gulea and enjoyed making necklaces and bracelets with Ashley’s Children, Harper, Maggie, and Clara – all who embraced Robin with proportionate love and care. Joel also had the joy of watching Robin’s beloved dog Munchkin when he couldn’t travel with her. Robin endured journeys in broken-down Penske trucks and extralong RV’s across the country to be with her son Jason and daughter-in-law Amy and their children in California. She braved freezing ice rinks to watch grandsons Jordan and Aiden play hockey and attended more dance recitals with granddaughters Savanah and Leigha, always with Greg by her side. Robin was blessed in the final weeks of her life to have Jason’s entire family come back to Michigan to care for her and enjoy precious time with them in her final days. She visited her son, Justin and daughter-in-law Kelsey and their children in Maryland, never missing baptisms or first communions – of which there were many. She almost invariably enjoyed Thanksgiving with their family, always contributing to the event with home-made cranberry sauce, looked-forward-to treats and gifts for her grandchildren. She enjoyed making crafts, doing puzzles and giving rides on her wheelchair to Finn, Evelyn, Greta, Penny, Russell, John and Shirley. She shared a special bond with her grandson John, who also suffered from pulmonary hypertension and went home to our Lord only months before her own passing. We know he welcomed her home into heaven. Robin visited Arizona on several occasions to visit Jessica Cameron-Nichols and her son-in-law Ryan, and their children. She was deeply honored to host and plan their wedding this past fall – a truly highlight of her life. She always enjoyed painting Ameila’s nails and making crafts or playing Legos with her and Lukas when she visited. Her adventurous spirit carried into her interactions with Ethan and Luke as well, who enjoyed a particularly memorable trip to the zoo with her in recent months. Robin was especially delighted to learn that she was expecting her 19th grandchild from Jessica and Ryan this upcoming January. She leaned into the blessing of her expanding family and maintained a positive outlook on life which always enabled her to handle adversity with grace. In addition to her many family members, she will be missed by several friends and neighbors including Cheryl and Gary Corte, Linda and Ron Palmquist, Pete and Sue McClain, Gary and Marge Lindow, and Karen and Jim McCormick and so many more. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, July 18th at O’Brien-Sullivan Funeral Home in Novi, MI from 4:00pm to 8pm, with Rosary at 7pm. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Friday, July 19th at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 133 Orchard Dr, Northville, MI. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 25800 West Ten Mile Road, Southfield @ 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alhambra at P.O. Box 94 Northville, Mi. 48167
